Join the UK’s largest inter-school cycling and scooting challenge.
The Sustrans Big Pedal is the UK’s largest inter-school cycling and scooting challenge. It inspires pupils, staff and parents to choose two wheels for their journey to school.
The challenge will run between the 22nd April to 5th May. For schools unable to take part in the main event there is a one-day challenge, which can include cycling and scooting activities in the school day as well as on the journey to school.
Registration is now open on www.bigpedal.org.uk
How does the Sustrans Big Pedal challenge work?
This year’s challenge is open to individual classes as well as whole schools. On each day of the challenge, schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling or scooting to school. A school’s best five days will determine their final position, but they can log journeys on all ten days if they wish.
The Big Pedal website provides a suite of fun and interactive resources to help make your challenge a success. These free resources include:
- A school account on the Big Pedal website
- A wallchart on the Human Body with curriculum-based fact cards
- A list of schools taking part in the challenge
- Daily classroom activities
- Posters and Information flyers (pdf files to download and print)
- Top Tips (pdf download)
