Get to Work cycle project

Get to Work cycle scheme provides the unemployed with subsidised annual subscriptions to the Santander Cycles MK bike hire plus other cycling related training opportunities

The Get to Work scheme will run from August 2016 until March 2017 to provide access to work for the unemployed through affordable cycle hire, as well as offering a variety of free cycling based qualifications and basic cycle skills training.

Please note: Free cycle hire subscriptions and other training places are only available to registered unemployed. Other training places and qualifications are available to the general public via MKC. Contact the Cycling Team for more info.

Get confident – free cycle training

Can’t ride a bike or need to brush up on your basic cycling skills? We have free cycle training places available for all levels of riders or non-riders to help build confidence and get back on a bike. There are also a number of confidence building cycle rides to join at venues across the city.

Get qualified – Cytech (CT1) bicycle maintenance courses

Fancy yourself as a cycle mechanic? The Cytech 1(CT1) course provides you with a nationally recognised cycle mechanic qualification and will help you on your way to finding a job in the cycling industry. Courses will provide full training and assessment. For more information about the Cytech courses visit the official Cytech training website www.cytech.training/courses/

Training will take place at a workshop in Milton Keynes and last 3 full days, 9am to 4.30pm. There are six confirmed course dates as follows: 5th to 7th October; 2nd to 4th November; 30th November to 2nd December; 4th to 6th January, 1st to 3rd February and 1st to 3rd March.

Get involved – how to sign up to free training and courses

Milton Keynes Council is offering a limited number of training places to each of the above courses until March 2017.
