Information to help people travel on foot with walking routes, trails, ideas and places to walk

A leisurely stroll

Walking is a great way to explore the city – you can take in the sights in your own time, stop when you want and for as long as you like – plus, it’s great for your health and wellbeing.

There are lots of walking guides and routes to help you decide where to go – and wherever you are in the city, you’re not too far away from something interesting. Guides include trails around local art, culture, heritage, architecture, parks and open spaces. You may be surprised at what you find!

Redways and Footways

MK has hundreds of miles of Redways and footways for walking and cycling in MK. They are quite well surfaced and suitable for people in wheelchairs, with pushchairs and people who use mobility aids. Try going for a short stroll somewhere different once a week to really get to know your neighbourhood. Alternatively, use our journey planner to plan your route to the shops, school, doctors, work, friends or place of interest.

Leisure Routes and Open Spaces

A huge network of public footpaths, bridleways and surfaced ‘leisure routes’ criss-cross these areas providing literally thousands of walking options for all ages and abilities.

The Parks Trust has put together a number of self-guided walks and rides to enjoy or use our interactive map to help plan your route.

Heritage Trails
